Prehabilitation
-
While your oncology team focuses on treating your cancer, my role is to help prepare and support you—the whole person—through every stage of the experience.
A cancer diagnosis often brings a wave of uncertainty, anxiety, and overwhelm—especially in the time leading up to treatment. The Prehabilitation Session is a structured, extended visit designed to help you mentally and emotionally prepare for what’s ahead.
You can think of this process like packing for a meaningful and uncertain journey—taking time ahead of time to gather the tools, supports, and strategies you’ll need along the way.
-
Your cancer diagnosis, treatment plan, and biggest questions or concerns
Sleep, energy, nutrition, movement, and other factors that support overall well-being
How you're coping emotionally and the strategies you've relied on in the past
Your support system, available resources, and areas where additional support may be helpful
Your personal values, priorities, and what matters most as you move through treatment
Practical ways to reduce stress, build resilience, and care for yourself throughout treatment
Whether additional support—such as therapy, psychiatric care, or community resources—would be helpful
Some people find that one consultation provides the guidance they need to move forward with confidence. Others choose ongoing visits to continue building healthy habits, navigate new challenges, receive psychiatric care when appropriate, or have support through treatment and survivorship.
Care is always individualized, and we'll decide together what level of support feels most helpful for you.

The initial Prehabilitation consultation is a comprehensive visit typically scheduled for 75–90 minutes to allow time for a thorough assessment and the development of a personalized care plan.
When appropriate, this visit may be billed to your medical or behavioral health insurance. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary by insurance plan, and not all services are covered by every insurer. If a service is not covered by your insurance, you may choose to pay out of pocket. Superbills are available for eligible services if you wish to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance company.
